A run-it-yourself kind of week. China relays, analysis engines, Kubernetes media ingress and the audio processing stack itself all turned up as things you host rather than things you buy.

China Relay EOL: Build Your Own Relay With Vonage Video API (Vonage)
Vonage’s China Relay reached end of life in Q2 2026, and the replacement is a blog post explaining how to build your own: Media server components from Vonage, running on your servers (or servers you rent directly). The deprecation is not the interesting part. “We handle China for you” was one of the few things a global CPaaS could sell that a customer could not reasonably build alone. Sunsetting it means not enough clients for it or Ericsson (Vonage’s parent company) having issues with China. The trend here is different though. Video API vendors providing media servers to host on your hardware as part of the full deployment.
